The husband of a 28-year-old Virginia mother who has been missing for over three weeks was taken into custody outside their home on Thursday morning. An infant was also seen being carried out of the residence under a yellow blanket, although it is uncertain if the child is the couple's daughter. Authorities have been contacted for a statement regarding the incident.
The last time the husband saw his wife was over three weeks ago at the dinner table, as per his previous statements to the police. He ceased cooperation with investigators, who executed a search warrant at their home on Wednesday, according to the Manassas Park Police.
The missing woman was last seen on July 27 at a medical center in Manassas and was last in contact with her husband on July 31. Her husband initially did not want to report her missing when police conducted a welfare check on August 2, but he eventually reported her missing on August 15.
Concerns were raised by the woman's work colleagues, prompting an investigation that escalated her missing status to involuntary/critical. The police chief assured the public that the case remains a top priority, with multiple search warrants executed and numerous interviews conducted.
During a news conference, the police chief mentioned that the husband has been a person of interest in the case and has not been cooperative with authorities. The investigation is ongoing, with a search warrant at the couple's residence expected to take several hours to complete.
In an interview, the husband expressed worry about his wife's whereabouts, noting that she had disappeared before but never for this extended period. Community efforts, including a Facebook group and communication with the police, have been established to aid in the search for the missing woman.
