Virginia Guiffre, known for accusing infamous child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein and Royal family member Prince Andrew of sexual abuse and trafficking, died by suicide on Friday at the age of 41.
Her family confirmed Guiffre’s death in a statement.
“It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away at her farm in Western Australia,” the statement read.
“She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
“In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.”

Earlier this month, Guiffre posted on social media that she had “days to live” after she crashed into a school bus.
Her family described her as a “fierce warrior” against sexual abusers and trafficking, and as a “light that lifted so many survivors”.
“Despite all the adversity she faced in her life, she shone so bright. She will be missed beyond measure,” the statement continued.

Guiffre is survived by her three children, Christian, Noah, and Emily.
“It was when she held her newborn daughter in her arms that Virginia realized she had to fight back against those who had abused her and so many others,” her family said.
“There are no words that can express the grave loss we feel today with the passing of our sweet Virginia.
“She was heroic and will always be remembered for her incredible courage and loving spirit.”
Guiffre publicly accused Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell of sex crimes in 2019. She alleged that the pair trafficked her to Prince Andrew when she was 17-years-old, a claim he has repeatedly denied.
Epstein was arrested by federal agents in 2019, and died by suicide in his cell before his trial could begin. The validity of his suicide has been polarising, however.
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking scheme.
Guiffre filed a lawsuit with the Duke of York in 2021, and they settled out of court in February 2022.
