Virginia Giuffre's brother has shared a final picture of his sister following her death by suicide at the age of 41.
Ms Giuffre, who accused Prince Andrew of sexual abuse after being trafficked as a teenager by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, died on Friday at her home.
In a statement, her family said: "It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia.
"She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
"Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors.
"In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.
"There are no words that can express the grave loss we feel today with the passing of our sweet Virginia," the family continued.
"She was heroic and will always be remembered for her incredible courage and loving spirit.
"In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight. We know that she is with the angels."
On Saturday, Ms Giuffre's brother Danny Wilson paid tribute to her on his Facebook page, sharing an image of Virginia in happier times.
In the photo, Ms Giuffre is seated in the centre with her arm around Danny, alongside her older brother Sky.
Ms Giuffre will be remembered for publicly coming forward with allegations against Epstein and campaigning for him to be prosecuted prior to his death in prison in 2019.
She claimed that as a trafficked 17-year-old, she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew under the direction of Epstein's former lover and procurer, Ghislaine Maxwell.
The trio were famously pictured together at Maxwell's London Mews property, prior to one of the alleged encounters.
The Duke of York has consistently denied Ms Giuffre's allegations. Maxwell—who was jailed for 20 years in 2022 for trafficking other girls—also denies the claims.
Ms Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrew in 2021, which was settled out of court the following year for an undisclosed sum, although he continued to maintain that he did not have sex with her.
The mother-of-three was born in Florida but moved to Australia with her husband Robert in 2019, where the couple lived with their children. It is understood the couple had separated.
In recent weeks, she had posted troubling messages on social media suggesting she had "days to live" following a car accident. However, inquiries by Daily Mail Australia involving the bus driver and several witnesses confirmed it had been only a minor collision.
