Virgin Media star Lisa Cannon says she hopes to be on Dancing With The Stars next year

TV star Lisa Cannon has set her sights on competing on the next season of Dancing With The Stars.

The Virgin Media One presenter admitted the show would be a good opportunity to shed the pounds and revealed that she boogies like Beyonce in her sitting room.

Dublin native Lisa told the Irish Mirror: “I would love to go on Dancing With The Stars, but the more I say I want to go on it, they’re never going to pick me.

“I’ve wanted to go on it for so long. It would really help me lose the weight too, the bits I can’t shift.”

The 40-year-old stunner said she’s been hinting for ages that she’d love a shot at dancing her socks off in front of the nation.

She added: “I’m like the little humming bird that keeps tapping at the window saying ‘pick me, pick me’.

“I wouldn’t be interested in a lot of reality shows but I just love dancing, I’ve done ballet for many years.

“I love to boogie, I dance around my kitchen, I dance with my friends. I’d love to slip on some tap shoes and show everyone what I can do.

“I’d work really hard; I think I can dance and you have to have a bit of belief.

“I’ve no idea how to do the foxtrot or the jive. If Beyonce came on I’d hop around like a space hopper.

“I’m ready to rock n roll, it’s sparkly and twinkly and I’d love to be on it.”

The Dublin native was handpicked by Warner Brothers to present her own slot for Extra TV in the States this month.

The coverage was seen by millions and she impressed show bosses covering the recent Game Of Thrones premiere in Belfast and hopes it will lead to more work Stateside.

She said: “It was great, it was a massive experience, really exciting, you never know, I hope I can cover more for the network.

“Thankfully I did the job well and I got the main Game Of Thrones stars that the network were looking for, Kit Harington and Sophie Turner.

“For me the pressure was on to get the big stars and I was lucky enough to land a chat with Kit.”

Lisa has been recommissioned to produce and present her Box Office show returning to Virgin Media One in September.

From Brad Pitt to Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston, she’s interviewed major Hollywood stars over the course of her career on Xpose and on her movie show.

But she told how her work has garnered her a nickname. She said: “I have a nickname in Virgin Media, I’m called the claw.

“I hold onto stars on the red carpet, the claw would come out, for some reason I’m able to keep the stars talking for ages.”
