Virgin Media is offering free Xbox consoles worth £250 - here's how to get one

Virgin Media is enticing new customers to sign up for some of its biggest broadband and TV bundles by offering them a free Xbox Series S worth £249.99.

The provider is running the limited-time deal across four available bundles, some of which might appeal if you're a sports enthusiast, a keen moviegoer or a Netflix fan. But you'll have to be sure they're right for you before being lured in by the promise of a free Xbox, as you will be tied into an 18-month contract and prices start from upwards of £60 per month.

If you don't fancy an Xbox, you can choose to get a £200 bill credit voucher if you snap up one of the bundles instead, which will be added to your account and can be used to slash your monthly bills. But if you're hoping to take advantage of this deal, you'll have to be quick - it comes to an end at 11.59pm tonight, Thursday, April 20.

The first deal included in the offer is the Bigger Bundle + Sports package, which costs £65 per month and includes M500 Fibre Broadband, over 195 TV channels including all Sky Sports and BT Sport channels, and unlimited weekend calls to UK numbers. Customers can also get the Bigger Bundle + Movies package for a price of £62 per month, which includes M125 Fibre Broadband, over 200 TV channels including all Sky Cinema channels, and unlimited weekend calls to UK numbers.

The deal is also running on the Biggest TV Bundle, priced at £87 per month for M125 Fibre Broadband, over 210 TV channels including all Sky Sports, Sky Cinema HD and BT Sport Ultimate channels, Netflix on two devices at the same time, and inclusive weekend calls to UK numbers. And finally there's the Ultimate Volt Bundle for £85 per month, which comes with Gig1 Fibre Broadband, over 230 TV channels including Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, BT Sport and Nickelodeon, Netflix on two devices, anytime calls to UK numbers, and an O2 SIM.

There is usually a setup fee of £35 for these packages, but the fee has been waived for the promotion on all bundles, broadband & phone, and broadband only packages until May 31. Customers can only claim one Xbox or one £200 bill credit per household - and remember that the prices listed are for new Virgin Media customers only, and all involve entering into an 18-month contract.

Not to be outdone on the deals front, BT is also currently offering a promotion where both new and existing customers can get a Sports or Entertainment package, including the likes of BT Sport, NOW Entertainment and Netflix, for just £1 for the first six months of a 24-month contract. Sky has also launched a deal that includes its Stream box plus broadband and TV channels at its lowest ever price, meaning customers will pay just £39 per month instead of the usual £44.

However, any customers tempted to make the switch should be aware of what existing customers have had to say about these major broadband providers. Virgin Media, BT and Sky were all criticised by consumer experts at Which? last month based on a survey on the likes of reliability, value for money and tech support - despite all of them having hiked bills from April.

Of the "big four" broadband providers - BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media - the survey saw TalkTalk land at the bottom of the list with a score of 51%, with users giving it the lowest possible ratings for tech support, customer service and speed. Meanwhile, Virgin Media came second from the bottom in the rankings in 10th place, scoring 54% with poor ratings for customer service and tech support.

Sky came in eighth place with a score of 56% for overall customer satisfaction, while BT was the best of the big four earning fifth place with a score of 59%. At the top of the list was lesser known provider Zen, which achieved the highest rating for the eighth year running with a store of 81%.
