UPDATE: Virgin Media users have had a torrid day with the popular internet service hitting problems early this morning. The firm confirmed that it had fixed the issue plaguing users with the provider confirming to Mirror.co.uk that a normal service had been resumed. "We’ve restored broadband services for customers but are closely monitoring the situation as our engineers continue to investigate. We apologise for any inconvenience caused," Virgin said in a statement.
However, just as the evening rush begins, things have gone offline again with Downdetector - which monitors outages across the globe - currently showing a massive 30,000 reports that Virgin isn't working. It's unclear what has happened or when things will be back online again but customers aren't happy with one named Andy, saying: "Down once AGAIN in London.... what are VM playing at?" and another called Paul adding, "No VM broadband in Lewisham and can't check status on VM site or register for update via phone."
ORIGINAL STORY: Virgin Media users are facing a seriously frustrating morning with the popular ISP currently offline across the country. The gremlins appear to have begun at around 5am with thousands of reports flooding in from frustrated users. The bug isn't like the usual outages with it only affecting some websites. That means Virgin users can still send messages on services such as WhatsApp but can't access web pages.
It's clearly a major problem for the Internet Service Provider with Downdetector, which monitors outages across the globe, showing some 26,000 reports. That's one of the biggest glitches seen in a while.
Speaking on Downdetector's forum page, one Virgin Media user, called Radio, said: "This is the second time last Thursday was no internet from 11:00 till 19.30! They don't even email us they should give us a discount."
Along with the mentions of Downdetector, social media is also full of angry users. One customer named Kieran tweeted, "Mine down all morning tried to contact been on hold for an hour gave up as my battery died."
And another called Jim added: "The service is a joke I’m counting down the days till my contract ends. Some users are reporting that their internet access is coming back online but we'll keep updating this article as we hear more.
Virgin has just issued a statement online with the company saying: "We’re aware of an issue that is affecting broadband services for Virgin Media customers as well as our contact centres. Our teams are currently working to identify and fix the problem as quickly as possible and we apologise to those customers affected."
