A Virgin Atlantic jet collided with another plane while being towed at Heathrow Airport on Saturday, according to aviation authorities. The incident occurred at Terminal 3, where the wingtip of the Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787-9 made contact with a stationary British Airways jet. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as the Virgin Atlantic aircraft had completed a flight and was without passengers at the time of the collision.
Images shared on social media depicted fire trucks surrounding the two planes, with their wings visibly touching. Both airlines have initiated investigations into the incident, with Virgin Atlantic confirming that their engineering teams are conducting maintenance checks on the affected aircraft, which has been temporarily taken out of service. British Airways also stated that their engineers are assessing the damage to their plane.
Heathrow Airport assured that there were no passenger injuries resulting from the collision and anticipated no significant disruptions to airport operations. The safety and well-being of passengers and crew remain a top priority for both airlines and the airport authorities.
