Virgil van Dijk parties with Calvin Harris as Liverpool legend celebrates birthday in Ibiza

Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has turned 32. He is currently in Ibiza and was celebrating with DJ Calvin Harris at the famous Ushuaïa nightclub.

The Dutchman has made 222 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions since joining from Southampton in January 2018 and will, undoubtedly, go down in folklore as one of the club's best-ever defenders.

His presence at Anfield has coincided with the greatest period in modern Reds history under Jurgen Klopp. van Dijk was immensely pivotal in reaching three Champions League finals, winning one in 2019. while also being vital as that all-important first-ever Premier League title arrived on Merseyside.

He's still going strong too, featuring regularly as the club came close to securing an unprecedented quadruple in the 2021/2022 season and will be hoping to help the Reds bounce back from an underwhelming previous campaign.

With James Milner having departed the club for Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, van Dijk is almost certain to see his standing officially recognised with the vice-captaincy for next season.

Increased competition for club skipper Jordan Henderson also means van Dijk may find himself in possession of the armband more than ever at Anfield going forward. It will be an opportunity he will no doubt relish.

He is clearly as popular with some of Liverpool's most famous supporters as he is within the dressing room. Harris, a self-proclaimed Liverpool fan, sent a birthday message on Instagram which read: "Massive! Happy birthday."

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford accompanied him for a snap alongside Nathan Ake and Kevin de Bruyne - who have been spotted with the Dutchman already this summer.

van Dijk appears to be enjoying his well-earned break, following a campaign that saw him play 41 times for the Reds and a further 12 for Holland in friendlies, UEFA Nations League and World Cup fixtures.

Since July 2021, when he returned from a career-threatening knee injury suffered against Everton in a 2-2 draw back in October 2020, Van Dijk has in fact turned out over 100 times for club and country, with 92 of them coming for Jurgen Klopp's Reds.
