Virgil van Dijk drops Liverpool fitness hint after Southampton win

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has hinted he will be available for the team's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Reds still have a chance of winning the title going into the final day of the campaign after they beat Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's on Tuesday.

The victory sees them move to within one point of leaders Manchester City, who will face an Aston Villa side at the Etihad Stadium managed by Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.

PLAYER RATINGS: Kostas Tsimikas and James Milner superb at Southampton

SNAP ANALYSIS: Takumi Minamino could still follow Erling Haaland despite Liverpool reminder

Van Dijk did not play against his former club Southampton with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp deciding to rest the Dutchman after he was withdrawn from the FA Cup final win over Chelsea on Saturday.

But it would appear the Holland international will make a return at Anfield this weekend after he posted the following on his Twitter account at full time: "BIG WIN! See you all Sunday!"

The post will ease fears any fans had about Van Dijk's fitness, with the Champions League showdown with Real Madrid to come in Paris on May 28.

The centre-back has been back to imperious best this season, helping Liverpool compete for multiple honours throughout the season.

Before the game against Southampton, Klopp provided an update on Van Dijk's condition.

"He has played a lot and at the moment with it being Saturday-Tuesday again, it was clear that they're both okay, So the target for both is that they can both be involved at the weekend [against Wolves], properly involved on the bench or starting or whatever."
