Viral video shows young man clinging onto back of Dublin Bus on busy street

Video footage has gone viral of a young man clinging onto the back of a Dublin Bus as it moves through traffic.

The incident happened in Swords on May 18 on the 43 route, which travels from Talbot Street to Jugback Lane.

The man, who appears to be in his teens, is seen wearing an orange gilet and red tracksuit and grips the back of the bus as it drives.

The video was filmed by Brendan Leavy as his family travelled in their car behind the bus.

Brendan didn't hold back his shock at the incident, saying: "F***** lunatic, Jesus Christ.. f***** hell".

Children in the car can be heard laughing with one saying: "That’s how you get a free bus".

The video went viral on Facebook with many expressing their shock that "scutting", where children cling onto the back of a vehicle, is still around.

One wrote: "Times are hard. Haven't seen scutting since the 70s."

Another said: "That's crazy, such a dangerous thing to do."

A third said: "Unbelievable. I thought the days of scutting was gone."

A Dublin Bus spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Dublin Bus is aware of these types of incidents. These are extremely dangerous actions which could result in serious injury and Dublin Bus strongly discourages anyone from partaking in such reckless behaviour."
