Viral TikTok star to spend 12 hours on Dublin Bus ‘to see if he can survive it’

A viral TikTok star is set to spend 12 hours on Dublin Bus “to see if he can survive it”.

Hector Lopez, who has 104,400 followers on the app and 2.8 million likes, is starting his journey on O’Connell Street with his Leap Card at 11am and finishing at 11pm this Saturday.

The young man has gained fame by making funny videos, reviewing student bars all around Ireland and rating the buses of Dublin.

He told Dublin Live: “I do student bar reviews and I also do bus reviews, I go on different routes and my livestream idea came from that.

“The main reason I like doing those bus reviews is because I want to celebrate Dublin. I found that everyone has a story about their bus route or certain bus routes.

“My favourite bus route is the 39A, it goes from Blanch to UCD. It has a nice mix of the north and south side.

“There’s nothing like Dublin so I want to get that across in my videos. This livestream, and even the videos I’ve done before, I always try to include others so for my 12 hour stream, other creators are going to come along.

“The plan is to have a guest on the bus with me every few hours and I’ll have a few questions for them. I have a storyline and I’ve little games and dares to do on the bus.”

Fans know him as The Cool Guy but the Cabra man originally comes from California.

He said: “I was born in America, I’m Mexican and El Salvadoran. My stepdad is Irish, my mom came here on a trip and met him on the first day.

“A year later we decided to move over here. I prefer Ireland compared to America.

“I came here when I was 10, so it was the perfect time to move. When I came over here I thought it was a Harry Potter world. The only thing I miss over there is the weather and the rest of my family.”
