Viral cafe apologises for closing with 'extremely heavy heart'

A POPULAR viral cafe is closing with an “extremely heavy heart” due to health issues.

Bacchialdi's is shutting down as the owners struggle with “the emotional and physical efforts needed to keep up the incredible standards".

The iconic Airdrie spot shot to fame over the clever name as it was located at the "back of Aldi's" supermarket.

Now they have apologised for “letting loyal customers down” but thanked them for their support since opening in the pandemic.

They reminisced about winning “best cafe in Lanarkshire” and praised the “friends they met along the way”, who will “forever be in their hearts”.

The eatery promised to fulfil orders that have already been made and teased at possible catering services in the future.

In a statement they said: “It's with an extremely heavy heart I am having to make this post.

“Due to ongoing health issues we feel we cannot continue to give the emotional and physical efforts needed to keep up the incredible standards we have set and what our incredible customers deserve so we have decided to close the cafe with immediate effect.

“We are so sorry to let all our loyal customers down like this as you all know how cherished to us you are.

“It's been some journey for us. From the first day we opened during the pandemic for takeaway only and taking £18 over the till to being voted the best cafe in Lanarkshire just four years later.

“We are very proud of our achievements in such a small window in time.

“Most of all though, we are proud of the friends we have made along the way.

“People who will forever be in our hearts.

“We hope we have brought some fun and laughter to Airdrie.

“Even if you had a wee smile at our name whilst walking by or the regulars who came in and had a bit of craic with us and our staff, we have loved serving the people and the town.

“We hope you enjoyed us too.

“Any cakes that have been ordered will be made as promised so no need to worry if you've ordered a birthday cake.

“Anybody wishing to order cakes with Caroline PM this page or contact her directly.

“We may still be available for outside catering in the near future as well.

“So again, thank you Airdrie and the great people there. It's been a blast."
