Violent Venezuelan gang expands presence in New York City

NYPD newyork police department

Several suspects accused of assaulting two New York City police officers were arraigned today at Manhattan Criminal Court. All five men pleaded not guilty to their alleged roles in the attack. Prosecutors revealed that four of the suspects have been in the United States for less than a year, with one of them supposed to have been deported a year ago. The judge, considering the suspects' criminal records, ordered two of the men, identified as Reverend and Yo Henry Brito, to be held in jail on bail.

According to prosecutors, the initial altercation began when Brito resisted arrest, leading to a brawl. Two other suspects, Kelvin Cervita Rocha and Wilson Omar Juarez, are now connected by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to a violent Venezuelan gang known as Trendy Aragua. Both men have pending immigration cases. Furthermore, the judge ordered them to be held on bail to keep them within the system, thus preventing their deportation.

Recent warnings issued to New York City officers indicate that Trendy Aragua is expanding its presence in the city. Images of certain tattoos have been shared as potential indicators of gang affiliation. Trendy Aragua is known for engaging in various illegal activities, including murder for hire, drug trafficking, gun running, and human smuggling.

FBI Special Agent Cesar Paz expressed concerns about Trendy Aragua's increasing acts of violence in the United States. Previously confined to Venezuelan prisons, the group has now formed alliances with other criminal organizations, both domestically and internationally. Law enforcement agencies in Chicago, Miami, and New York have all linked members of Trendy Aragua to crimes within their jurisdictions. As a result, the FBI is actively sharing intelligence to combat the gang's activities.

The presence of these suspects from Trendy Aragua in New York City highlights the growing challenge faced by law enforcement agencies. The city's police officers have been notified about the gang's expansion and are on high alert. It is crucial for authorities to remain vigilant in order to prevent further violence and criminal activities associated with Trendy Aragua.

As the investigation continues, law enforcement agencies will work together to dismantle this violent gang and apprehend those responsible for the assault on the police officers. Public safety remains a top priority, and efforts to combat organized crime will persist in order to ensure the security and well-being of the community.
