Violent thugs with foot-long machetes fight on Tube platform in front of terrified commuters

Shocking video footage shows violent thugs armed with foot-long machetes fighting on a Tube station platform in front of terrified commuters.

The incident, which has gone viral on social media, took place on the platform at Queensbury station in North West London on Monday evening.

Video footage, taken by a commuter sitting on the tube, appears to show two teenagers lunging towards each other while they shout threats.

Wearing heavy coats and tracksuit bottoms, they appear to be brandishing large machetes which they wave in each other’s faces.

People can be heard shouting “please stop” and the clip ends with the group walking out of frame.

Officers from British Transport Police attended the scene and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife.

Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Queensbury underground station at 5.30pm yesterday (24 March) to reports of a fight involving knives on the platform.

“Officers attended and one boy aged 16 was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of a drug (Class B).

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing an anyone with information is asked to get in touch by texting 61016 or calling 0800 405040 quoting reference 490 of 24/03/25.”

It comes as London faces a spiraling knife crime epidemic. A total of 262 lives were lost to knife violence in England and Wales last year, including 52 people under the age of 25.

Knife crime offences recorded by police forces in England and Wales have risen in recent years and are almost back at levels seen before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Some 55,008 offences were recorded by forces in England and Wales in the 12 months to September 2024.

This is up 4% from 52,969 offences in the previous 12 months, and is almost level with the 55,170 offences in the pre-Covid year ending March 2020.

Just last November, a man was rushed to hospital after a rush hour stabbing at Edgware Road Tube station.
