Violent protests erupt outside star-studded Louis Vuitton show in Barcelona

A star-studded fashion show turned ugly as police and protestors clashed in the streets during violent protests about the use of a famous Barcelona park for the private event.

Famous faces including Sophie Turner, Ana de Armas and Emma Stone were among the guests at the Louis Vuitton show in Park Guell for the launch of their 2025 Cruise range while outside baton-wielding police officers pushed back hundreds of protestors.

It was the culmination of days of protest against the event, which saw organisers accused of “privatising” public space.

Video showed protestors being beaten with batons while some exchanged blows with officers, while projectiles were thrown from the crowd.

The demonstration also included a parody of a fashion show with protestors holding a catwalk in the street in protest at the event, including one of them strutting up the street in a black coat with ACAB, short for All Cops Are B*******, emblazoned across the back.

It came after local news channels reported that stairs at the historic site, first opened in 1914, had been damaged during preparations for the fashion industry event. They also reported one arrest during the violent scenes outside.

The event was one of several organised by the luxury fashion brand to coincide with the 37th America’s Cup which it sponsors and which is being held in Barcelona this year.

Also among those attending were LVMH owner and CEO Bernard Arnault, who this year retained his spot as the richest man in the world, worth $206bn according to Forbes.
