Footage shows the moment a brawl erupted after a passenger bumped into the wife of another.
Punches were thrown and headlocks tightened as staff on the Southwest Airlines and other passengers attempted to break it up.
The fight started on Monday on an internal US flight from Dallas to Phoenix.
It started after one man in a cap, who was with his wife and kids accused a tattooed man of being agressive.
The video shows the man in a cap holding the other in a headlock as other passengers shout “Do not hit him again” and “Let go of him”.
The woman who recorded the fight explained that when the passenger accidentally bumped into the man’s wife “he started mouthing off.”
She said that the dad had punched the other man “four to five times” before she started recording.
Both men were later escorted off the plane.
The attacker in the video claimed the other man approached his family "aggressively”.
In another video he can be heard saying: “I will sit down in jail for you approaching my family. I will die for my family.
“Don’t play with my family! That’s why I beat your ass!”
According to Dallas Police Department no one was arrested.
A spokesperson for Southwest Airlines said: “We commend our Crew for managing the situation as Safety professionals while also ensuring the comfort of the other passengers in the cabin.
“We don’t have further details to share, except that the flight arrived on-time and as scheduled,” the statement added.
In a short statement posted on social media, a man claiming to be the person in the video said: "I'm not proud of my actions I wish I would of been more reserved. I come from the hood and sometimes I resort to those ideals but to the youth please walk away cuz [sic] violence is not the answer."
He continued: "Unless your [sic] a professional fighter always be professional. I lost my temper sorry world, he triggered me immensely and I'm seeking counselling.
"This is Hood PTSD aggression I should have set a better example."
