Vinnie Jones has shared his plans to pay emotional tribute to his late wife Tanya during his upcoming appearance on The X Factor: Celebrity.
Jones, 54, is set to take part in the first live show of the competition on Saturday after he was unable to take part in the audition stages as Tanya died just a few days before.
The actor and former footballer said that he is not treating the show “like a singing competition” but instead as “a tribute for Tanya.”
He revealed that he will sing songs which had a special meaning for the couple, telling the Mirror: “There’s one song that I like, which I might be singing. It’s one that means a lot to us.
“I can see her now looking out the window of the car tapping along to it. There are a lot of songs that mean a lot to us.
“I’m not treating it like a singing competition, I’m doing it as a tribute for Tanya.”
He added that he could sing “a ballad, an Irish song” which is “basically about me and her,” suggesting: “If I can get through that, I think it could bring the house down.”
He said that his wife was the driving force behind his decision to take part in the series as “she loved the show, she thought it would be brilliant.”
Earlier this week, Jones confirmed that he would donate any proceeds from a record contract to Harefield Hospital in London and Cedars Sinai in California.
Tanya died in July at the age of 53 after a long period of illness.
The couple married in 1994 and renewed their vows in 2007. Tanya had a daughter, Kaley, with her former husband, who Jones later adopted and the couple also had a son, Aaron.
Earlier this month, Jones was praised for opening up about his grief in a tearful interview with Good Morning Britain, which marked his first TV appearance since Tanya’s death.
The X Factor: Celebrity continues on ITV on October 26 at 8.20pm.
