Celtic target Vinicius Souza is on the verge of signing for Espanyol - according to a report.
The 23-year-old has been chased by a clutch of clubs but it appears the La Liga side will win the race for his signature. Reports on Wednesday he was closing in on PSV were played down but Celtic will not land the signature of the Lommel man - who is owned by the City Group.
His eye-popping stats on loan had him on Ange Postecoglou 's radar but he is set to plump for a switch to Espanyol. And Fabrizio Romano states: "Espanyol are set to sign Brazilian midfielder Vinícius Souza. Deal in place after many approaches from different clubs. It’s almost done. Player now already in Spain in order to complete the move.
And on Wednesday, a source close to the talks told Record Sport it was time for the midfielder to make his decision. They said: “If Souza - or his agents - aren’t prepared to commit then the club will simply have to look elsewhere because it’s an area of the team that the manager wants to address as a matter of urgency. Souza absolutely fits the bill in terms of what’s required but he’s not the only option.”
Postecoglou admitted on Wednesday he is looking for a couple more quality additions ahead of his side's return to the Champions League.
