Vinegar Yard London Bridge: From street food to vintage clothes, everything you need to know

Summer is almost here, and Vinegar Yard is ready.

The street-food-meets-vintage market, which comes from the team behind nearby foodie favourite Flat Iron Square, is a new hotspot for al fresco fun in the shadow of the tallest building in the capital.

So – should you be heading to the newest outdoor foodie venue in London? From Indian-inspired burgers via art, vintage clothes and a Prosecco Van, here’s what you need to know about Vinegar Yard.

Where is Vinegar Yard in London?

Down to earth: Vinegar Yard has a very famous neighbour in the Shard (Harvey Pearson)

Vinegar Yard is found just off St Thomas Street, SE1 3QU. Bermondsey buffs will know that that’s right behind London Bridge station, next door to Guy’s Hospital and directly under the watchful eye of the Shard.

What street food will be there?

Word on the street: Nanny Bill's will be serving burgers (Hayden Perrier)

Top of the bill is My Million Pound Menu star Baba G’s, which is serving up its signature Bhangra Burgers, fusing lamb, chicken and paneer patties with Indian flavours. Joining it with more grilling expertise is Argentinian steak specialist Up In My Grill and French dip burger buff Nanny Bill’s.

Italian ciabatta sandwiches come courtesy of Sugo, while Borough Market-hailing fruit and veg expert Turnips is cooking up risottos and blending fruit juices.

Coffee connoisseur the Gentleman Baristas is on hand for caffeine fixes, serving barbecued baps for breakfast and lunch too.

What else is at the Vinegar Yard market?

Blast from the past: the market is full of vintage stalls and pop-up shops (Hayden Perrier)

At the weekends, Vinegar Yard is first and foremost a vintage and makers’ market. Flea London takes over a great deal of the space, packing the area with stalls selling anything from clothes to ceramics, books to cameras.

Pop-up shops will also be open in dressed-up shipping containers throughout the week, with traders including Eclectic Ray, Creative Collective, Doc Cotton and Chez Michele.

An open-air bar will serve draught beer, with a rotating tap showcasing London craft breweries. The Prosecco Van will also be on hand to keep revellers topped up with bubbly. While Vinegar Yard is largely an outdoor location, there is also a decent-sized indoor space to save visitors from any potential rain.

Art lovers can also check out the large scale sculpture installations by scrap metal artist Joe Rush, which currently includes an abandoned train carriage infested by giant mechanical ants. Rush has previously exhibited at Glastonbury Festival and worked with the likes of Vivienne Westwood and the Rolling Stones.

What are the Vinegar Yard market opening hours?

Bottoms up: The Prosecco Van are keeping guests topped up with bubbly (Hayden Perrier)

Vinegar Yard itself is open seven days a week, but different parts of it are open at different times.

Coffee shop the Gentleman Baristas is open for breakfast from 7.30am, while other food traders open at noon.

Flea London’s vintage market is open on weekends only, 11am-6pm on Saturday, and 10am-5pm on Sunday.

The bar is open from noon during the week and 11am on weekends. It closes at midnight on Friday and Saturday, and at 11pm on all other days.

Pop up shops are open from 11am-7pm from Wednesday to Friday, 11am-6pm on Saturday, and 10am-5pm on Sunday.
