Tottenham could turn to Burnley's Vincent Kompany as their next head coach and fifth permanent manager in less than five years. Chairman Daniel Levy has a crucial decision on his hands this summer with the appointment of Spurs' next manager likely to determine the club's success for the next five years.
After bringing in two elite-level coach's, in Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, the latest list of potential options seems to indicate Levy is turning back to the method he used to appoint Mauricio Pochettino. Joining Kompany on the list of possible arrivals closer to the start of their managerial careers are Julian Nagelsmann, Arne Slot and Oliver Glasner, while Brendan Rodgers and Luis Enrique have also been linked.
Kompany is fresh off a Championship-winning season at Burnley after a three-year stint at Anderlecht in his home country of Belgium. The Clarets have seen a complete shift in their play style under the former Manchester City captain with free-flowing and expansive football consistently on show at Turf Moor.

With Kompany now set to manage in the Premier League even if he doesn't join Tottenham, it is currently unclear whether the 37-year-old would accept the job in north London if offered it. With that said, football.london, has rounded up the latest news linking Kompany to the vacancy at Spurs.
Kompany 'one to watch' after 'direct talks'
Despite seemingly committing his future to Burnley, Vincent Kompany could be 'one to watch' this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The former Manchester City captain achieved promotion with the Clarets back to the Premier League in April, and he has since held talks with both Tottenham and Chelsea.
Romano added that 'direct talks' have taken place between Spurs and Kompany with some conversations also being undertaken by Wasserman agency.
Chelsea short list
Alongside Tottenham, Chelsea are also on the hunt for a new manager and Vicent Kompany has emerged as one of the names at the top of their list.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly whittled his short list down to four names with Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino and one other unknown candidate joining Kompany.
However, Nagelsmann has since pulled out of the running with former Spurs boss Pochettino now as the firm favourite.
Burnley promise
Burnley boss Vincent Kompany delivered a passionate speech on his plans for the Clarets seemingly hinting that he has no desire to leave the club soon.
"The way I am as a person, my starting point is: 'Okay, where can this place go?' You know, because everybody is talking about our limits, but we are the only ones who can judge our own limits I think," the 37-year-old said.
"So, my first thing is where this place can go and that consumes my every moment. So, as much as I love the club - I want to show an example - when we left Manchester City, I love the club.
"I think, in football, when you find a good place - it's worth really protecting that," added Kompany before explaining the importance of seeing out his project in Lancashire.
"It's really difficult to maintain consistency across the season, but, for us, it's been really important to set our targets," he said. We are thinking more about a cycle. We've got a three or four-year period together. Can we continue that and keep improving the club? That's the aim."
Clear manager message
Vincent Kompany gave a simple and brief response when asked about his future at Burnley after being heavily linked with the vacant jobs at Tottenham and Chelsea.
"I don't waste answers on my future," Kompany said in mid-April just a few weeks after Burnley had secured promotion. "I said it on day one of my job here at Burnley, that one day in anticipation that there might be a question like this so crack on. I am focusing on Reading and the next games."
