Villarreal president Fernando Roig has warned Liverpool 'special measures' will be taken ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg, preventing travelling supporters from gaining access to the home sections of the stadium.
Jurgen Klopp's side host the Yellow Submarine on Wednesday evening at Anfield, with the return leg at the home of the Spanish outfit to follow on Tuesday, May 3. The Reds have been allocated a total of 2,062 tickets for their trip to Villarreal, meanwhile Unai Emery's side have sold all of their 3,000 available seats in the Anfield away end.
Viewed as the underdogs for their tie with Liverpool, the current Europa League holders will hope the backing of their supporters on Merseyside can help inspire a positive first-leg result to take back to their home ground. Fully aware that the club must have everything in place to produce another upset in the Champions League, action has been taken to ensure Liverpool's presence is limited at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

After watching 30,000 Eintracht Frankfurt supporters cheer their side to an unlikely Europa League win over Barcelona inside Camp Nou, after a larger than usual number of tickets were made available, Villarreal's club president has stressed that no Liverpool fans will be able to find a way of generating such an atmosphere at an away venue by cracking down on just who is attending the fixture.
“We are going to take special measures for the second leg,” Roig told El Periodico Mediterraneo.
“It will be a high-risk game, and the tickets will be nominative. And with the exception of the away zone, which will be all for Liverpool, no tickets will be sold to English citizens in other areas of the pitch. What happened to Barcelona in the Europa League will not happen to us. We want it to be a big party for the Villarreal fans, and we want the Estadio de la Cerámica to be dyed yellow.
“Tickets cannot be resold, there will be controls. Anyone who does not identify themselves at the entrance will not be allowed to enter the stadium.”
