Bayern Munich are out to assert themselves as one of the favourites for the Champions League trophy by dispatching Villarreal in the quarter-finals.
A 4-1 win over Freiburg on the weekend continued the Bundesliga giants’ fine form, which included a 7-1 romp past RB Salzburg in the home leg of their last-16 tie.
However, the Austrians did claim a draw to open up that two-legged affair and Villarreal will fancy their chances of springing a shock at Estadio de la Ceramica.
A resounding victory at Juventus in the last round earned their spot in the quarter-finals but Unai Emery’s side have been beaten twice in LaLiga since, dropping them to seventh in the table.
