Villainous Motorcycle Rider 'Lobo' Is Finally Coming to the Big Screen In 'Supergirl'

Jason Momoa finally got his wish.

The actor, best known for his turns in Stargate: Atlantis (my personal favorite Momoa role), Game of Thrones, Baywatch: Hawaii, as DC's Aquaman, as well as being a massive motorcycle enthusiast, is heading back to the DC comics universe, albeit this time in the form of a role he's been actively campaigning for for what seems like two decades. Yes, Momoa will finally get to play DC's foul-mouthed, cigar-smoking, badass mercenary motorcyclist Lobo in the new DCU's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

The news broke via Deadline and Momoa's Instagram, where the actor took to tell his fans "the call" finally came in to play his dream role.

According to Momoa's Instagram post, the actor posted a snapshot of an interview he did ages ago, stating, "'So Lobo was…I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,' he said. 'I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it's a f*ck yeah. I haven't received that call, so I don't want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I'm there.'"

Momoa captioned the post, "They called."

For those who aren't nerds like me, Lobo is an alien mercenary/bounty hunter who's played heel and babyface throughout his appearances in both the comics and in animated media. His style is one that's very similar to Momoa's, apart from the cigar-smoking, pale white skin, and distinctive black eye patches. And being, you know, an intergalatic badass, though I wouldn't put it past Momoa for having that reputation far beyond our stars.

But why we at RideApart are covering this news is because Lobo was and is a motorcyclist, at least I would consider him to be. In the comics, Lobo rides a gnarly chopper-esque speeder bike. His "hog" usually involves chopper-like forks, ape hangars, and a skull front end. However, whenever Lobo is on Earth, the bounty hunter has a regular motorcycle, not one that flies the cosmos.

I'm stoked for Momoa to finally play the role, though I'll been more reserved in whether it'll ultimately be a good role for him until I see this new DCU in action, i.e. in Superman coming this upcoming year. Cause the last outing, well, it kinda sucked and wasted Momoa's talents. Fingers crossed.
