The sun was shining in Howwood for the annual village fete, returning for the first time since before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The community banded together to put on the celebration on Saturday, June 18 with local youth groups manning stalls at Howwood Primary.
Unwitting partygoers even found themselves roped in to assist at the gate, due to the unexpectedly large turnout, as the village came out in force for their first post-covid event.

Food stalls were dishing out the grub, a DJ was blaring out the tunes, there was archery, frisbee, football, and of course, the tug of war, which was contested by the Howwood Inn and The Boarding House, with the Howwood Inn coming out on top.
Co-organiser Lorna Poole said: “It was a very good year. That was the busiest one we’ve had I think because it’s not been on for two years. It was queued right along the path, I’ve never seen it like that before.”
Sarah Galloway and Lorna have been behind the event for the past four years after taking over organising responsibilities from the community council.
They are now planning on taking a short break over the summer before getting plans for next year’s event in motion.
See Saturday's Express for more cracking photos from the event.
