The Minnesota Vikings made a roster move on Tuesday afternoon, but it wasn’t one we were expecting. The team announced that the Vikings have waived quarterback Tanner Morgan from the practice squad.
Everyone was expecting the Vikings to officially place wide receiver Justin Jefferson on injured reserve but that move is still expected.
Buy Vikings TicketsWith Nick Mullens nursing a back injury, the Vikings signed Morgan to the practice squad as extra insurance. He wasn’t used and they moved on from him in short order.
Having started for the majority of five seasons for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Morgan went undrafted and spent training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If Mullens is placed on injured reserve as was alluded to by O’Connell, Morgan could end up back with the Vikings.
