Vikings vs. Cardinals preview and predictions

The 5-1 Minnesota Vikings will be gunning for their fifth-straight win as they take on the 3-4 Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals have not won in Minnesota since 1977 when they were the St. Louis Cardinals. In the last 45 years, they have played 10 games in Minneapolis and have lost all 10, including a divisional round game in January of 1999.

Heading into the game, the Vikings are still in a state of flux and have had a ton of injury-luck. The next three games will determine a lot for this team moving forward. We previewed the game and gave a prediction, along with Jess Root of Cards Wire.

Record: 5-1

The Vikings have been on a roll the past few weeks. They have won four in a row, but all four wins have been by one score and came from behind in three of them. The bye week gave the team a chance to self-scout and figure out how to improve the inconsistencies. Going against a Cardinals team that is beat up, especially on the offensive line, should prove to be an easier contest than previously thought.

Last year’s game was tremendous with both teams putting up a lot of points. The Vikings were about three yards to the right of winning the game with a Greg Joseph field goal. The Vikings being at home will be the difference as the Vikings extend their winning streak to five.

Prediction: Vikings 28, Cardinals 23

The Vikings return from their bye week to face a Cardinals team that has won two of its three road games this season. Arizona won’t be so fortunate in this one as the Vikings’ offense takes a step forward under Kevin O’Connell.

Prediction: Vikings 31, Cardinals 28

I don’t quite believe in the Vikings yet. Their wins aren’t convincing to me and I think the Cardinals are going to round into form with Hopkins back. Kirk Cousins will make a mistake or two and Minnesota’s defense will struggle to stop Arizona consistently.

Prediction: Cardinals 24, Vikings 20
