Vikings vs. Bills: 5 matchups to watch on Sunday

When the Minnesota Vikings take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, there are a ton of storylines throughout the matchup.

It isn’t just the first game the Vikings have played against Stefon Diggs or a possibly Case Keenum revenge game. The matchups across the board are tremendous as both teams are among the elite of the NFL

As we move forward to Sunday, there are five matchups that will be must-watch on Sunday afternoon.

Von Miller vs. Christian Darrisaw

The two met last season when the Los Angeles Rams came to U.S. Bank Stadium and Miller went to war with Darrisaw. The rookie only allowed one pressure on the day but the Vikings ended up losing to the Rams. Miller is playing some of his best football and Darrisaw has looked like an all-pro this season. Those two will be facing off in one of the best matchups you will see in the trenches this year.

Gabe Davis vs. Akayleb Evans

With Cameron Dantzler likely not playing on Sunday with an ankle injury, Akayleb Evans will be asked to play a more pivotal role and it is something that is ready for. His first task will be playing opposite Gabe Davis who is currently averaging 25.1 yards per reception. Evans was able to help the Vikings shut down Terry McLaurin last week and he got a pass breakup on a key fourth down. With Patrick Peterson likely to shadow Diggs, Evans will be left with the task of shutting down Davis.

Kevin O'Connell vs. Sean McDermott

With Josh Allen potentially missing this game, the Bills’ defense will be the catalyst for their success and the Vikings will need their offense to show up to get the win. It will be a difficult one for the Vikings as the Bills have the league’s top-ranked scoring defense and haven’t allowed more than 21 points this season. The Vikings’ offense will need to figure out a talented defense that could be short-handed this Sunday if they want a chance to win.

T.J. Hockenson vs. Matt Milano and Jordan Poyer

This matchup is only going to happen if either Milano or Poyer plays, as they both missed last week’s game against the New York Jets. The Vikings showed that they wanted to get Hockenson involved early and often, getting him nine catches for 70 yards just five days after acquiring him from the Detroit Lions. Both Milano and Poyer are two of the best at their respective positions and will give Hockenson some issues in coverage.

Justin Jefferson vs. Stefon Diggs

For the rest of Jefferson’s career, he will be forever linked to Diggs, as the selection the Vikings acquired from the Bills was used to select Jefferson. Both players are top-five wide receivers in the league and have been playing great so far this season. Potentially not having Allen could hinder Diggs, but he has a chemistry with Keenum that helped them orchestrate the Minneapolis Miracle. While these two don’t directly face-off head to head, their matchup will be heavily scrutinized.
