Vikings trick play leads to touchdown drive

There are few things in football more beautiful than a well-executed trick play. For the Minnesota Vikings, that play came late in the second quarter on a fake punt just across the 50-yard line.

Minnesota lined up for what looked like a punt on fourth and two after coming up just short on third down. Instead, the ball was snapped directly to up-man and starting safety Josh Metellus, who quickly handed the ball to backup running back Ty Chandler. Chandler took the ball outside and converted to give the Vikings a big first down.

This play wound up to be the catalyst for a big Vikings touchdown drive, as the Vikings offense drove the ball downfield. Kirk Cousins eventually found rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison in the back of the endzone to give the Vikings a three-point lead late in the second quarter.

We’ll see in the second half in Kevin O’Connell has any more tricks up his sleeve as the Vikings try and take down the defending Super Champion Chiefs and move to 2-3 on the season.
