Vikings Sunday mock draft roundup is cornerbacks galore

The Minnesota Vikings were present for the NFL Scouting Combine which saw a ton of great performances. The cornerbacks in particular were impressive, especially with athletic testing.

The Vikings still have a glaring need at cornerback with only three on the roster. Will that continue after the first wave of free agency? That is the question we will be asking.

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will likely be aggressive in finding help at the cornerback position before the draft to ensure that the Vikings don’t have to force their first-round pick at the position.

For the time being, cornerback is the most glaring of needs and the lastest slate of mock drafts have that coming to the Vikings. Let’s take a look.

This would be a dream scenario for the Vikings. They desperately need help in their secondary and Joey Porter Jr. is an NFL-blood prospect that allowed just 143 receiving yards and zero touchdowns in coverage for Penn State.-Kent Weyrauch

It came down to cornerback or wide receiver for the Vikings but given the number of yards and touchdowns they surrendered in 2022, we project the former. Forbes can also upgrade the position given Patrick Peterson’s age.-Patrick Conn

Who: Georgia CB Kelee Ringo

Kelee Ringo is a complete and utter projection. However, he is an absolutely outrageous athlete who could learn a few things from Patrick Peterson, should the veteran return to the Minnesota Vikings for another season.

You can see the flashes with Ringo. He’s an intelligent defender in zone coverage who communicates well and matched wonderfully in Kirby Smart’s Saban-inspired defense. But there is a level of ADHD when in coverage that can be baffling at times. If Minnesota can keep his focus throughout reps, his intelligence and athleticism will take care of the rest.-Dalton Miller
