The Vikings took down the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday, 42-21. It was quarterback Sam Darnold who propelled the victory. The former No. 3 overall pick was named the NFC Player of the Week for his efforts in the win.
Darnold completed 22-of-28 passes for 347 yards and five touchdown passes. The first-year Viking threw three touchdowns to Jordan Addison while tossing two to his favorite target, Justin Jefferson.
The Vikings are out to an impressive 11-2 start. Minnesota is close to clinching a playoff spot, and instead of talking about whether the Vikings are Super Bowl contenders, the talk around Minnesota is about what it should do with its quarterback situation. With how well Darnold is playing, will Minnesota try to ink him to a long-term deal, or will the Vikings move toward J.J. McCarthy — their tenth overall draft pick from the 2024 NFL Draft?
The Vikings will have plenty of answers once the season is over, but Minnesota needs Darnold to play lights-out in the meantime.
