Vikings Rookie Jordan Addison Apologizes After Citation for Driving 140 MPH

Vikings rookie receiver Jordan Addison issued a public apology on Friday in the wake of receiving a citation early Thursday morning for speeding and reckless driving.

In a statement shared via his agent Tim Younger, Addison, the 23rd pick in April’s draft, vowed to learn from the incident, which reportedly saw the 21-year-old traveling 140 mph in a 55-mph zone just outside St. Paul.

“Yesterday morning I made a mistake and used poor judgment. I recognize and own that. I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry,” the statement read, per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. CDT on eastbound Interstate 94. Addison’s vehicle was stopped by MSP due to the violations, though he was only given a citation and not arrested.

The Vikings later acknowledged Addison’s incident in a statement to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. “We are aware of last night’s traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information,” the team said.

A standout receiver who spent two years at Pittsburgh and one season at USC,  Addison was the fourth receiver taken in the 2023 NFL draft. The 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner declared for the pros following his junior season, his lone campaign with the Trojans.
