The Pro Bowl isn’t what it used to be, heck it isn’t even a game anymore. However, it still matters, especially when it comes to contracts. Players have bonuses worked into their contracts for making the Pro Bowl. Sure, it’s an antiquated process, but that’s the best that we have at the moment.
The Vikings dominated the voting this year, finishing second overall in total votes while, according to The Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling, they also had 17 players make the top 10 within their position groups, including long snapper Andrew DePaola and kick returner Kene Nwangwu at first in voting.
More #Vikings in the top 10 at their position in the Pro Bowl fan vote (2/2):
RB: 7 (Cook)
KR/PR: 1 (Nwangwu)
SS: 2 (Smith)
ST: 2 (Boyd)
T: 5, 10 (Darrisaw, O'Neill)
TE: 3 (Hockenson)
WR: 2 (Jefferson)— Ben Goessling (@BenGoessling) December 19, 2022
These are really impressive numbers for the Vikings who also had three players finish in second place in wide receiver Justin Jefferson, safety Harrison Smith and special teams ace Kris Boyd.
It’s completely possible for the Vikings to end up with upwards of 8-10 Pro Bowlers in 2022.
