Sunday afternoon will be a major matchup for the Minnesota Vikings’ playoff push as they take on the New Orleans Saints.
Both teams currently sit at 5-4 with a wild card berth a possibility as well as a division title. These two teams could be looking at a possible tiebreaker scenario for their playoff lives.
Heading into Sunday’s game, the Vikings made multiple roster moves and cleared up some distinctions. Let’s take a look at all six and what they mean for the team.
WR Justin Jefferson
Jefferson was downgraded to out on Sunday. He wasn’t expected to play on Sunday in his quest to return from his hamstring injury but practicing all week is a positive.
G/C Chris Reed
Reed was also downgraded to out. The Vikings activated his practice window 10 days ago and they still have at least one more week (11 days) to add him to the active roster.
ILB Nick Vigil
The Vikings signed Vigil to their active roster. It’s not a great sign for ILB Brian Asamoah II who is likely to miss his third-consecutive game.
QB Sean Mannion
The Vikings elevated Mannion from the practice squad. With Jaren Hall out with a concussion, Mannion will serve as the backup to Josh Dobbs.
NT T.J. Smith
The Vikings elevated Smith from the practice squad for Sunday’s game. He played against the Falcons last week in Dean Lowry’s absence.
NT Sheldon Day
The Vikings signed Day to their practice squad. Day has been on and off the practice squad for the last two seasons and is a capable player on the interior.
