The Minnesota Vikings are sitting at 5-4 going into Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints and have quite a littany of injuries.
They finally had their first game without Kirk Cousins against the Atlanta Falcons and Josh Dobbs stepped up massively, including winning NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Outside of Cousins, Jaren Hall and K.J. Osborn suffered concussions against the Falcons and both Marcus Davenport and Nick Mullens are potential players to come back this season. They, like plenty of other teams, have been going through it.
On Wednesday, the Vikings made three roster moves regarding injuries heading into Sunday’s game.
RB Cam Akers
The Vikings placed Akers on injured reserve on Wednesday afternoon with his torn Achilles tendon. This is the second time in the last 27 months that Akers suffered the injury.
Because Akers won’t meet the conditions for the trade (500 rushing yards) with the Los Angeles Rams, the Vikings won’t have to send a sixth-round pick in 2025 in exchange for the Rams 2025 seventh-round pick.
QB Tanner Morgan
With only two healthy quarterbacks, the Vikings brought back Morgan to their practice squad. He spent time with the Vikings on the practice squad in October and will be available for Sunday’s game.
WR Justin Jefferson
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport broke the news that the Vikings were activating the practice window for Jefferson.
The practice window for #Vikings star WR Justin Jefferson is being opened this week, sources say, as he now has 21 days to be activated. This does not mean he’ll play this week. But he’s on his way back from the hamstring injury that landed him on Injured Reserve. pic.twitter.com/4aeQ4xH2QT

He will be able to practice for 21 days before either activating him or keeping him on injured reserve for the rest of the season. The expectation isn’t that Jefferson plays on Sunday, but potentially against the Denver Broncos on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos.
