EA released its wide receiver and defensive back ratings for Madden 24 on Monday, and one player joined an exclusive club with a 99 rating. Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson became the latest star to get the highest rating in the game, and he’s the only player at his position to get the coveted rating in this year’s edition.
While some players may not care about their rating, Jefferson made it clear that this means a lot for him. The fourth-year pro explained that he has been playing Madden his entire life.
“Y’all have no idea what it means to be a 99 in Madden!!” Jefferson tweeted. “Since I was 7 [years old] I been creating my own player making him a 99 and now I don’t have to.”

In 2022, Jefferson led the NFL in with 128 receptions and 1,809 receiving yards, earning a Pro Bowl selection, first-team All-Pro recognition and the AP Offensive Player of the Year award. That much success was enough for the Madden brain trust to decide he deserved a 99 rating.
However, not everyone agreed. Some fans appeared to be upset that Jefferson got that high of a rating. In response, Jefferson tweeted that he doesn’t understand why.
“It’s crazy how much people hate on seeing another person succeed,” he said. “It baffles me lmaoooo.”

EA will release the rest of its ratings throughout the week, and more players may join Jefferson in the elite 99 club.
