The Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers by a score of 24-10 but also potentially lost Kirk Cousins, who left the game with an ankle injury.
Lambeau Field hasn’t been nice to the Vikings as of late. They got blown out each of the last two seasons, but both games were in the first week of January.
The game started off with the Vikings holding the Packers to four consecutive three-and-outs. They piled up 10 points on their four drives but they had a chance to get more points with a field goal on their first drive. Greg Joseph missed it and had one blocked in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings brought their A game on offense though. Cousins was fantastic throughout the game in finding the open target. He was fantastic throughout, but the theme of this game will be the injury he suffered on a third and 19 in the fourth quarter.
Cousins was ruled out officially with an ankle injury almost immediately, which is a really bad sign, especially since the injury was non-contact.
Once Cousins went out, Jaren Hall took over and looked a little rough. These were his first regular-season snaps. He looked rough, but that’s to be expected when you come in cold as a fifth-round pick. He will have time to get practice reps this week going into next week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Jordan Addison continued to be great on Sunday. He caught his seventh touchdown in his first eight games becoming the first Vikings player to do so. Addison finished with seven catches for 82 yards and a touchdown.
The key to this game was limiting Jordan Love. The Vikings played good coverage in the secondary along with getting to Love in the backfield often early on. His numbers look better than you would expect considering the Vikings had his number for the majority of the game (24-of-41 for 229 yards, one touchdown and one interception), but the Vikings changed their defensive approach after they got up 21 points.
Up next is the Falcons and things for the Vikings could look a lot different.
