Vikings DB Enlists Help From Senators to Acquire Visa for Wife in Philippines

Vikings defensive back Camryn Bynum got the most out of his camera time after Minnesota’s 22–17 win over the 49ers on Monday night when he asked viewers for help to get his wife, who’s stuck in the Philippines while awaiting a visa, to the United States.

Bynum and his wife, Lalaine, got married in March, but she has yet to see him play professional football in person since he was drafted in 2021. She’s been denied tourist visas twice and also has applied for a spousal visa.

Ever since Bynum received airtime on NFL Network and posted on social media about the situation, he’s heard from many fans, including Minnesota senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith.

“They’re saying they can get it expedited,” Bynum said, via the Star Tribune. “Hopefully somebody from the inside at the big office of the whole United States can get something done, but just being patient and super grateful.”

Until Lalaine gets her visa approved, she’s watching her husband’s games from the other side of the world.

“Monday night was perfect because it was 8 a.m. for her,” Bynum said. “At first we had to do the little streaming websites where you have all the popups, but we finally found a good app where she can watch it and it doesn’t get laggy or anything. She’s enjoying it and learning football and having a lot of her friends and all our people out here learn.”

It was a good game for Lalaine to watch, as Bynum sealed the Vikings’ win with an interception. He finished the game with two interceptions and nine tackles.
