Vikings CB Byron Murphy Jr. earns bonus from Pro Bowl selection

Cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. was among six Vikings selected for the 2025 Pro Bowl. This is the first time he has received Pro Bowl honors in his six-year career.

The selection also helped him gain some extra cash. Thanks to an incentive on his contract, Murphy will make an extra $250,000 for making the Pro Bowl, Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune tweeted on Tuesday.

It’s been a career year for Murphy. Quarterbacks have a 78.0 passer rating throwing at Murphy this season, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). His six interceptions are tied for third in the NFL and are the most by a Vikings cornerback since Jimmy Hitchcock picked off seven passes in 1998.

Minnesota needs Murphy to be at his best this Sunday. As the Vikings’ primary slot cornerback, he will be tasked with covering Amon-Ra St. Brown. The Lions’ wideout has lined up in the slot on 51.4% of pass plays, the highest on the team. If Murphy can contain St. Brown and even force a turnover, the Vikings could emerge as NFC North champions.
