Vikings beat Bears, 49ers must win to get No. 2 seed

The Vikings on Sunday knocked off the Bears 29-13 in Chicago to set up a must-win scenario for the 49ers if they want the No. 2 seed in the NFC.

San Francisco would’ve clinched at least the No. 2 seed if the Vikings had fallen to the shorthanded Bears. Alas, Minnesota took care of business and the 49ers will need to handle business at home against the shorthanded Cardinals. If the 49ers lose they’ll fall to the No. 3 seed and host the Giants at Levi’s Stadium on wild card weekend.

There’s more than the No. 2 seed on the line though. The 49ers could still secure the No. 1 seed with a win and an Eagles loss. Philadelphia will host a Giants club that’s sitting key starters and putting 2017 third-round pick Davis Webb under center for his first-career start.

The 49ers are suiting up all of their healthy starters, but they could start pulling some players if they build up a lead over the Cardinals. If they win and the Eagles win, they’ll need to wait until the Lions-Packers game ends Sunday night to see who they’ll play in the first round of the playoffs.
