This series will be your guide to the 2024 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.
The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at quarterback, running back, defensive line and edge rusher. We will also focus on wide receiver since it’s a loaded class and an increased chance to get a Stefon Diggs-type steal in the later rounds.
The Vikings are slated to have 9 picks going into the NFL draft and they need to make the most out of them.

Strengths
Mitchell is one of the smoothest athletes I’ve ever scouted. He moves so effortlessly and every movement is with intent.
When he runs, it looks like he’s gliding. He eats up yards consistently and with ease and can outrun cornerbacks and stack them.
Offers a varied release package. Mitchell has tremendous footwork that he uses frequently to get separation. He also understands how to utilize leverage to open up the defenders’ hips on in-breaking routes.
Displays great body control in all facets of the game. Can maneuver his body and attack the ball in the air with ease.
Had six drops on 52 targets in his freshman season of 2021 but only one on his final 103 targets.
Weaknesses
As a bigger receiver, Mitchell isn’t the best YAC guy. Only had one game of over 30 yards and just 178 after the catch in 2023.
In the same vein, Mitchell doesn’t force many missed tackles. He only forced six in 2023 and just nine in his career.
Blocking could use a little more consistency. Doesn’t maximize leverage and gets out of position too often.

Mitchell is the third member of the All-Forno team. There is very little that Mitchell can’t do as an X-receiver and he will thrive in either a vertical or horizontal offense. He will fit best in an offense that allows him to get vertical.
