VIJAYAWADA: In what could be a laudable initiative, IAS officer N Prabhakar Reddy admitted his children in a government school. Prabhakar Reddy’s wife Lakshmi visited Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in Patamata in the city on Tuesday and enrolled her daughter Alex Sruthi into VIII standard and son Krish Dharan into class-VI. She spoke to the school principal and filled in the applications for the admission.
Prabhakar Reddy is presently serving as managing director and vice-chairman of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) and known as an upright officer. He had in fact admitted his children in the government school while serving as joint collector of Nellore when the kids were in lower classes.
Speaking to the media, Lakshmi Prabhakar Reddy said they decided to enroll the children in the ZP high school as government has introduced English medium in the government schools. “The infrastructure in this school is really amazing. It has big playground and excellent faculty. We found this ZP high school as the best one to enroll our children,” said Lakshmi. She said the state government has been giving highest priority to the education sector and transformed the government schools.
The ZP high school in Patamata is one of the top choice of parents from poor in Vijayawada city as it has been drawing huge number of new admissions.
