Viggo Venn breaks silence after being booed following Britain's Got Talent win

Britain's Got Talent winner Viggo Venn has spoken for the first time since coming out on top in Sunday night's final.

He spoke live on ITV's Lorraine show on Wednesday morning after being awarded £250,000 in prize money.

Playing a hi-vis clown, Viggo's win was met with a lot of frustration, with audience members booing him following his win, The Daily Record reports.

"It's not my fault that I won, it's the British public," Viggo said when speaking with Lorraine. "I was kind of hoping I didn't win because it would be so embarrassing but I was so happy," he said.

Lorraine stressed that she thinks King Charles will like Viggo's silliness.

Viggo won by raking in 22 per cent of the public vote, while runner-up Lilliana Clifton took 13.1 per cent of the overall vote and third-place magician from Co Meath, Cillian O'Connor received 11.8 per cent. Lines were open to UK voters only.

Viggo pranced around the stage as Ant McPartlin fell over with complete shock at the clown's win.

One Twitter user said: "Sounded like a lot of boos there when #ViggoVenn was announced as the winner of #BritainsGotTalent. I thought he was great but a shock omissions from the final 3, and I think everyone thought the young lad would win. Bit of a deflated, down-beat end to the series #BGT2023 #BGT."

Another wrote: "Did you hear them boo’s on @BGT? Quite right too, ridiculous. So much more talent in that final tonight. #BGT2023 should not have made the live shows. Poor winner."

They described it as "the worst Britain's Got Talent result EVER."

"If that really is genuine, then the British voting public should be ashamed and embarrassed. Booing from the audience, and rightly so. Some real talent missed out there," they added.
