Viewers stunned after spotting odd detail in Jacob Rees-Mogg's clock

Eagle-eyed viewers have spotted an unusual feature on Jacob Rees-Mogg's mantlepiece clock and it's left people in stitches.

Amidst overnight rumours that Boris Johnson may be climbing down from announcing his bid as the next Tory leader, Rees-Mogg, the current business secretary, told the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg that the former PM is "clearly going to stand" to become the next prime minister, as there's "a great deal of support for him".

While his claims about Johnson's popularity were fascinating for viewers - as official figures show that he has yet to reach the 100 vote threshold needed to get his name on the ballot - another character stole the limelight during the TV interview - a personalised clock that sat on the mantlepiece behind him.

The unusual piece is adorned with Mogg's initials around the clock face, and everyone's making the same joke that it's 'hardly surprising' that the politician would plump for such a keepsake.

Twitter users were quick to share their hot takes online after spotting the personalised clock, which features the letters 'MOGG'.

The timepiece boasts roman numerals for most of the numbers, but an 'M' where '12' would be, 'O' where '3' usually is and 'G' at both '6' and '9'.

One Twitter user penned: "Jacob Rees-Mogg's mantelpiece clock has an M at the 12 spot, an O at the three and G's at the six and nine points. Amazing. #BBCLauraK."

"Of course, Jacob Rees-Mogg has a MOGG clock" another added.

"Jacob Rees Mogg having a clock with the quarter hands spelling his own name is absolutely classic Jacob Rees Mogg energy," a third joked.

Another jibed: "Babe are you okay, you've hardly looked at your MOGG clock"

While a sixth commenter said: "All this talk about Jacob Rees-Mogg's clock with his name on it reminded me of when, a decade ago, he called for Somerset to have its own time zone."

The business secretary came out in support of the disgraced Boris Johnson making a comeback as PM on Friday following Liz Truss ' shocking resignation.

Despite unity talks happening between Johnson and Rishi Sunak overnight, a truce has been boldly ruled out as the former chancellor has announced that he is running for the top job, while Boris backers insist that he will also stand in the bid.
