Viewers of Britain's Got Talent were left surprised when they were sure judge Bruno Tonioli would press his golden buzzer for a brilliant Welsh dance troupe - but it never happened. United 2 Dance, a ballroom and Latin dance group, performed a brilliant medley of songs for the BGT judges.
On the day of their audition, the Welsh youngsters had been invited to Madame Tussauds where they thought they were looking at a waxwork of BGT's Bruno but got a fright when he jumped out and surprised them. Bruno, known best for judging Strictly, thanked the dance troupe for being "wonderful" to Nazarii, a new member of the group who arrived in the UK from Ukraine with his mum Olena.
Bruno thanked the group for "how wonderful you have been to [Olena] and her son... how wonderful you've been to them since they came from Ukraine, helping them getting you a chance to dance and a chance to shine." Olena replied: "I can't thank United 2 Dance enough for everything they've done for my family and my son. Since we arrived here they supported us... no words will be enough to say how we are grateful to United 2 Dance. They changed our life."
The Welsh troupe were surprised by the news they'd be auditioning for BGT later that day. When they took to the stage the troupe, aged between nine and 11, performed a brilliant medley which included hits like The Weeknd's Blinding Lights. The crowd loved it, giving them a standing ovation.
Bruno was the first judge to praise them, saying: "I'm so proud of you. So precise, so clean, so strong! And actually, Nazarii, I think your mum is here today, you should be proud!" The other judges had similar encouraging words for them, saying they were "slick," "polished," and that they "feel like a family on that stage."
Viewers were convinced United 2 Dance would get the Golden Buzzer from Bruno - but it wasn't to be. Twitter user @RyanTheSoapking said: "Good dancers and I enjoyed the audition. I'm surprised that Bruno didn't press his Golden Buzzer again. I really thought he would."
The troupe did get a "yes" from each of the four judges, though - with Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell not hesitating to put the Welsh kids through to the next round.
