Viewers applaud 'brave' Jason Watkins and wife Clara during emotional ITV documentary about their daughter's death

In an honest and raw ITV1 documentary actor Jason Watkins and his wife Clara spoke about losing their daughter Maudie from sepsis when she was just two years old. Understandably, many viewers found the documentary, which aired on Thursday, March 30, an emotional watch and applauded the couple for their bravery.

Jason and Clara said they were still "haunted" by questions 11 years after the death of their two-year-old daughter. While Jason admitted it was "still difficult" to talk about, he and Clara were determined to raise awareness of sepsis and wanted to speak out to give hope to other bereaved parents.

Prior to the documentary airing, Jason said: "I do feel apprehensive, I do think it's a delicate thing and I think, 'Are we doing the right thing?' But it does feel something to be shared and it can help us and other people."

Clara added: "It’s about breaking down the taboo of child loss. It’s so grim and unspeakable, people don’t know what to say. People don’t know how to act around you, but, also, I want to talk about Maudie and people will know that she’s here." The documentary, which has been produced by ITV Cymru Wales for ITV1, followed Jason and Clara as they prepared to move from the flat where Maudie was born, lived, and died.

After watching the difficult and heartwrenching documentary, viewers flocked to social media to praise the couple's bravery and for raising awareness. One said: "A very brave story from you both @Jason__Watkins".

Another added: "How brave this must have been so hard for you. I’m so sorry such a lovely family had to go through this. What a tribute to your Maudie". A third said: "Always had so much love for Jason Watkins and Clara. This is such a brave programme #jasonandclara".

While a fourth commented: "@Jason__Watkins I’m in bits xxxxx you and your lovely wife are amazing to be putting this out there".

And a fifth said: "Am watching now, Jason. This is incredibly brave of you both to open up your life and heartbreaking experience like this. Thank you. I hope it helps prevent even one more such devastating loss. Wishing you both the best and so very sorry for the loss of your lovely little girl."
