The Masters has Amen Corner. The Players has No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass. The U.S. Open — no matter where it’s being played — has a rough that would otherwise force any golfer to spend all day searching for their ball.
Overgrown rough lining each hole has become a staple of the U.S. Open and the 2023 event teeing off at Los Angeles Country Club on Thursday is no exception.

In case the 290-yard, par-three hole wasn’t challenging enough, we now have video confirmation that, yes, the rough is absolutely brutal once again out on the course.

This is starting to look like another year in which the U.S. Open champion won’t shoot under par. On the bright side, anyone who gets out on the course at LACC in the coming weeks after the tournament might find a few balls from some of their favorite golfers.
