Combat sports fans will be treated to an abundance of riches Saturday with plenty to watch.
The big one is UFC 278 in Salt Lake City, which features welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in a rematch against challenger Leon Edwards. Plus, former middleweight champ Luke Rockhold returns after more than three years away to take on Paulo Costa in a fight that has plenty of intrigue behind it. And former featherweight champ Jose Aldo is on the show, too, against Merab Dvalishvili.
But nearly 5,000 miles away from UFC 278, there are two big cards going down in London. The PFL’s final semifinal playoff event of the season will feature women’s lightweights, including two-time winner Kayla Harrison, and featherweights vying for a trip to November’s finals for a shot at $1 million.
And BKFC has a card in London, too, with former UFC banger Mike Perry taking on Bellator standout Michael Page in a bareknuckle fight. (Paige VanZant was supposed to be on that card until she was removed Wednesday, which took away a little of the event’s intrigue.)
So with three big events, is there a fight out there that can steal the thunder from the welterweight title fight atop UFC 278? If so, what is it? That’s what we asked our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Simon Samano, Brian “Goze” Garcia and Danny Segura, along with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia.
