Conor McGregor is on the verge of a return to action, but UFC president Dana White doesn’t want to be involved with one specific aspect of the former two-division champion’s journey back to the cage.
McGregor has not yet re-entered the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency testing pool, which typically requires a six-month period of clean testing before a returning fighter can compete, and White wants nothing to do with it.
McGregor is of the belief that he only needs to submit two clean tests and he will be good to go, which prompted a response from USADA.
McGregor has a date with former title challenger Michael Chandler on the horizon, but his status with USADA could play a major factor into when that fight is booked – of course, unless he is granted the rare six-month exemption.
When asked about the situation during UFC 286 fight week, White punted, asking reporters to pose the question to UFC senior vice president of athlete health and performance Jeff Novitzky.
