Video surfaces showing Sam Heughan starring as Batman before he became Jamie in Outlander

With Batman currently in town as part of the Flash film that's currently being shot around Glasgow, an old video has surfaced online showing how it might look if Sam Heughan joined the DC Universe.

Believe it or not, the Outlander star has previously starred as the Caped Crusader as part of a stage show before he became a household name as Jacobite warrior Jamie Fraser in the hit Starz TV show.

Yes, you heard that right: before he was even touted as the next James Bond, the Scots star had already cut his teeth as one of the world's greatest superhero.

The clip shows a very young looking Sam - with dyed black hair - discussing his role in Batman Live, a multi-million-pound live-action show in 2011/12 that toured arenas around the UK and Ireland before heading for the US.

The Scots actor had to endure a flying school, where we had to be hoisted up in the air on wires, a Batman bootcamp, where he was taught martial arts and finally plenty of stage fights for the role.

In the minute long video, Sam introduces himself before stating that he plays Batman and Bruce Wayne.

He is then shown in full Batman costume flying around on stage interacting with characters like Robin, Catwoman and the villianous Poison Ivy

Sam says: "Playing Batman is every boy's dream. Putting on the costume is a large part of who Batman is. In Batman Live the costume is quite big, it's been designed by (famed DC artist) Jim Lee or based on his drawings for DC comics.

"So he's quite muscular, this is a very active role. We did a two week Bat Bootcamp where we learnd a lot of different kinds of martial arts.

"We learned stick fighting, sword fighting. We also did a lot of core conditioning for the flying harness work."

He then finishes by saying: "I am Batman."

And it seems 6' 2'' Sam, from Balmaclellan in Galloway, is a real-life superhero after it was revealed that while he was starring as Batman in London in 2012 he made a citizen’s arrest at a London record shop.

While working on the stage show he didn't need is cape or mask when he helped aprehend a thief who was trying to steal DVDs, pinning him to floor for 15 minutes until the police arrived.

Sam posted online at the time: “Browsing in HMV. Thief tries to steal DVDs. Bouncer stops him. Thief decides to fight bouncer. Then me.

“I threw him, then held him down. I left when cops arrived. Beat that status update.”

We think Sam should throw his hat in the ring again if Robert Pattison ever decides to hang up the cape, what do you think?
