New Delhi: Following the demise of former Prime Minister and renowned economist Dr Manmohan Singh, veteran journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash reflects on the decade he spent with him. Manoj shares his experiences from various domestic and foreign trips with Dr Singh, including a notable trip to Kashmir.
As Chief Political Correspondent and Senior Anchor of Doordarshan News, Manoj Tibrewal Aakash recalled, "During Dr Singh's tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, I accompanied him on several election campaigns, travelling in a special plane from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh to Guwahati in Assam."

Aakash said that Dr Singh wanted to resolve the Kashmir issue forever peacefully.
"Dr Singh's personality was truly exceptional. He was a genuine statesman who never even thought to raise his voice over others. Solving the Kashmir issue weighed heavily on his heart," said Manoj Tibrewal.

Manoj recalled his experience of Dr Singh's visit to Srinagar during his second term as Prime Minister.
"Dr Singh had allocated an hour to meet the various sections of Kashmiri people at the guest house. However, the meeting continued for about five and a half hours. But Dr Singh not reflected even a little displeasure and remained composed throughout," said Manoj Tibrewal Aakash.
